Soft, creamy, intense

A historic sparkling wine from the Contratto winery, Bacco d’Oro is the only Contratto sparkling wine which sees dosage. On the nose, the wine exhibits intense peach blossoms, honey, and dried fruit. Creamy and enveloping, the palate is full of ripe fruit, citrus, and marzipan notes.

Grape variety

80% Pinot Nero, 20% Chardonnay

Vinification

Destemming and soft pressing, without pressing the berries, in order to obtain only the best and most balanced juice from our grapes, the flower must. First fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks followed by 9 months of aging. Second fermentation in bottle followed by at least 48 months aging on lees. Riddling is done manually.

Background

In the 1940s the Contratto family created a promotional campaign offering its customers the chance to win the coveted “Bacchus Gold”, a small 18 karat gold coin. One promotional coin was placed between the cork and cap for every 100 bottles of Bacco d’Oro Riserva sparkling wine.
